2nd Tri Checklist update

Now that the 2nd tri is almost over (just over a week left!), I thought I should see how we are doing on the checklist.

1. Find a prenatal exercise class | Check!
I haven't gone yet, but there are some at the Destination Maternity in Brookfield for free.
2. Learn about second trimester visits and tests- | Check!
3. Track your weight gain | Check!
4. Shop for maternity clothes | Check!
5. Consider a professional labor coach (doula) | Check!
It's not for us. We looked into it, and we'd rather spend that money elsewhere.
6. Plan some adult time | Check!
We had a great little vacation for our anniversary. It was awesome to get away :)
7. Start moisturizing your belly | Check!
8. Narrow your baby names list | Check!
9. Decide whether you'll find out the sex of the baby | Check!
10. Jot down your crazy pregnancy dreams-  Still haven't written any down, but they are still crazy.
11. Look into childbirth classes | Check!
We haven't signed up yet, but we know which ones we're taking!
12. Do some financial planning | Check!
We have a new business opportunity and lots of plans!
13. Prepare older children | N/A
14. Prepare pets- We've started. They are in our room now instead of in the nursery.
15. Start your childcare search- Not sure if this is necessary for us.
16. Get your teeth cleaned- I think I'm more afraid of dentists than childbirth.
17. Celebrate the halfway point | Check!
We had our gender reveal photoshoot that day!
18. Start sleeping on your side | Check!
19. Start doing kegel exercises |Check!
20. Create a baby registry | Check!
21. Think about your maternity leave- Still making a decision, but since my boss refuses to put me on the schedule, my decision is being made for me.
22. Check your rings | Check!
Still good!
23. Consider a babymoon- I would like to get away for another weekend if possible!
24. Think about your baby shower | Check!
We have a date set! YAY!
25. Avoid unsafe activities | Check!
 26. Write a letter to your baby- Still haven't done this.
27. Tackle your home improvement projects- We moved the dogs out of their room and bought paint for the baseboards. We still have a long way to go.
28. Dedicate time to your partner- I still don't know how to check this one off. We spend a lot of time together...
29. Eat healthy- I'm still just eating whatever sounds good. I have no appetite and I'm so nauseous.

We've made some progress!

25 Weeks!

Only a couple of weeks away from 3rd Trimester- Holy crap!

This week, baby is the size of a cauliflower:
Head to heels, baby now measures about 13.5 inches. His weight- a pound and a half- is about as much as the average head of cauliflower or rutabaga. Baby is beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more and more like a newborn. He is also growing more hair, and if we could see it, we'd now be able to discern its color and texture. Baby also knows which way is up and which way is down.

Now the questions:

Where's my 2nd Tri energy burst?

During my whole 1st trimester, everyone kept telling me, "Just wait until second trimester- you'll feel so much better and have so much more energy!"

Well, I have news for you all. Everyone else is a liar. I don't feel better (oh, hi nausea every single day), and I don't have more energy. I'm waiting for the nesting instincts to kick in, but I really feel like they might not ever. All day I've been thinking about cleaning and how wonderful it would be, but then I get up. And then I change my mind.

I just spent 15 minutes cleaning up random things in the bedroom and I feel like I could sleep for a week.

Cory , on the other hand, seems to have grasped the nesting concept (thankfully). Dishes are done, dogs are washed and walked, bedroom is vacuumed. I would kill for some caffeine!

Less than 16 weeks left.
