We're off to the Red River Gorge! Even with Dr. VF's approval, I'm a little nervous to climb. We packed a ton of snacks, so hopefully my morning sickness will hold off for the weekend. I figure Dave and Bri will find out this weekend (how do you keep that secret while camping- especially when there's going to be Moscato there?!) so we took the baby climbing shoes and clipped them to Cory's pack. We'll see how long it takes them to figure it out ;)
I'll post pictures when I get back- including my week 5 "blump" photos! Be back Monday!

You Know You're KU when... (Part 1)
You cry like a baby watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians (...more than once). And Laguna Beach. And Say Yes to the Dress.
You cry listening to a Taylor Swift song.
You cry when you realize your favorite restaurant is closed on Memorial Day.
You run out of toilet paper within a week because you pee so often.
You take a nap during the day and still fall asleep at 8PM.
You eat 5 meals in one day and wonder if there are any delicious leftovers.

Checklist update
Every time I check something off, I'll update. Maybe there will be interesting information to share, too. Exciting!
1. Make sure you're really pregnant | Check!
The proof is in the pictures!
2.Take your prenatal vitamin | Check!
Although I did find out mine may be expired, so I am calling the doctor tomorrow to see if I can get new ones from her, or if I should just get some OTC prenatals at the pharmacy
4.Choose a caregiver | Check!
I am in love with my doctor. I CANNOT wait to go see her at my appointment! Bonus: She does deliveries at my hospital of choice! (Yes, I planned it that way)
5.Make a prenatal appointment | Check!
June 21st, baby!
6.Consult your caregiver about medications you're taking | Check!
I'm not taking anything
7.If you smoke, quit | Check!
Not an issue
8.Stop drinking alcohol | Check!
Groannnn. No more Moscato :(
9.Cut down on caffeine | Check!
I'm not a coffee drinker. We just finished our last case of Mountain Dew and will not be buying any more. That's right, Cor. If I don't get Mtn. Dew, you don't get Mtn. Dew. Sorry!
10.Make sure your activities are pregnancy safe | Check!
It took several conversations between Dr.VF, the nurse, and I, but I am allowed to continue climbing, as long as I listen to my body and HYDRATE!
11. Start avoiding hazardous foods | Check!
No fresh deli meats for me!
15.Go to bed early | Check!
Like this was an option- I am tired around 8:30PM. Ahhh, motherhood
18.Think about when and how you'll announce your pregnancy | Check!
We have a bit of a timeline set up with ideas. The announcements have begun
19.Follow your baby's development | Check!
I get weekly email updates and read "What to Expect When You're Expecting" like it's my job
20.Join your birth club | Check!
I'm part of a wonderful group of women on an online forum all due around the same time I am
21.Start taking belly photos | Check!
See "4 Weeks" blog post
28.Start a baby name list | Check!
Start a list?! We've had names picked out for months!
29.Drink water | Check!
I'm going to be honest. I am kicking ass at drinking a ton of water every day. My house is now almost entirely out of toilet paper though. I pee 250 times a day, I swear
36.Write down a pregnancy memory | Check!
That's what this blog is for!

Our First Big Announcement
Last night, we told Cory's parents! We went over for a couple of hours to have dinner and show them our Mexico pictures. I made a special slideshow and at the end of the Mexico photos, we threw in the picture of Cory holding the "Pregnant" stick.
We got about halfway through the photos (because someone couldn't stop talking about the trip!) before dinner (which was delicious!!), and then we quickly ushered them outside to finish. Once we got to the end, Cory told them we had a picture of a little souvenir we brought back and showed them the "Pregnant" picture.
They both leaned in and stared with very confused faces before figuring it out. Exclaims of excitement and smiles all around! Lots of hugs and words of encouragement later, we were off.
I can't wait to share this experience with them. They are going to be just fantastic grandparents to our little one (not to mention spoil him or her rotten!), and I am so lucky to have Kim to help me answer any questions I have!

Ziggy's first present!
They're a little big (read: won't wear for a few, ahem, years), but I couldn't help myself. Our little baby is going to be a climber (probably), and these were just too damn cute:
Evolv Vengas
I may have gotten a little snap-happy, but COME ON, can you blame me? How CUTE are those shoes?!

4 Weeks
Ziggy has implanted and become an embryo! He/she is really in there! (Insert panic-and excited squeals-here)
This week, Ziggy is the size of a poppy seed:
At four weeks, your baby, now known as a blastocyst, is practically microscopic--a teeny ball of cells. She's busy settling into her now home (your uterus), prepping for all the crusial development she'll be doing over the next six weeks.
{Courtesy warning: If you're not into gory details, skip this next part}
Still Pregnant!
Finding out this early is nice so I can make the change over to a healthier lifestyle sooner than I would've otherwise, but it does make me nervous (especially after super-nice nurse lady was all "Oh just wait a week"). So my crazy hormones and I took another test this morning. Three more minutes, and...

Still good to go :)

Pregnancy Checklist #1
1. Take a pregnancy test | check (obviously)
2. Schedule first prenatal appointment | check
I called right away to schedule my appt with Dr. VF. Since I am so early on, they wanted to wait a bit. Actually the nurse literally said, "Let's just wait a week to see what happens." and I kept saying oh, so I should call back in a week to schedule? She kept telling me, "It's early; let's just wait a week." It finally clicked in my head that this early on it is still very possible I could have a chemical pregnancy, and she meant I should wait a week before doing anything baby related just to make sure I was still pregnant then.
Super. That feels great.
After a few more conversations between her and the doctor about whether or not I could still rock climb, I continued panic mode.
3. Start prenatal vitamins | check
I started taking prenatals when we started trying to conceive, but I rarely remembered to take them. Fortunately, Cory is practically forcing them down my throat ("You need your folic acid!!") and has also signed on to take a daily vitamin at the same time so I don't forget. I have already learned to take them right before bed because they make me nauseous.
...Three down, a billion to go!

Ziggy
A baby needs a nickname. It makes the tiny little cells that are rapidly multiplying more human, lifelike, like they are really, actually in there! Obviously since the stick said yes, he/she is indeed in existence, but it doesn't feel real. Hence, the name.
Yesterday, Cory kept talking to my belly and saying "you better implant, little zygote!"
Thus, Ziggy was born.

Three Long Minutes
May 24th @ 8:15 AM.
That's when it all changed.
I woke up before Cory, and headed to the bathroom. I knew it was probably too early to test, especially with a digital, but I thought I'd go for it. If it was negative, I could try again in a couple days.
One Minute. Two Minutes. Three Minutes.
"Pregnant"
"No Way. It worked! Is this right? I thought it was too early to test. I hope those tequila shots last week were okay. Holy crap. I have to tell Cory. Oh my God." These were just some of the thoughts going through my head.
I was going to surprise Cory with a pair of baby hiking shoes, but my patience is lacking, and when I'm excited, there's no keeping a secret. I ran into the bedroom, turned on the light and shoved that beautiful pee stick in his face.
"What...?"*yawn* "Huh?"*smile* ..."I told you your boobs were bigger!!"
Kiss, kiss, smile, smile.
Enter panic mode.
(Cory's not in panic mode. He's in excited mode. See picture below)
